Editor. Writer. Voice Director. Narrative Consultant.
If it's got words and it's in games, I'm ready to help.
I first broke into the gaming industry in 2011, working as a localization editor—finding and correcting the kinds of spelling, grammar, and consistency mistakes that generally come with third-party and/or automated translation of non-English games. This gave me a solid background in a wide variety of genres, including everything from dystopian scifi MMOs and grimdark shooters to high fantasy RPGs and cutesy anime CCGs. As my skills improved, I was trusted with more and more creative freedom in my work. I was asked to identify and resolve plot holes, spice up drab dialogue, and add depth, humor, or drama as needed. Soon I was rewriting entire characters and story arcs, creating new content whole-cloth to improve overall game quality and appeal to the target audience.
After many years and more than a dozen titles, my role expanded further to include both Voice Direction and Narrative Consultation. In addition to writing and editing game text, I now run VO recording sessions to provide proper context and live rewrites for voice actors, ensuring the desired delivery. I also act as senior narrative consultant for my employer's subsidiary studios, working with their writing teams to help catch plot holes and inconsistencies, resolve narrative conflicts, and explore and expand upon promising themes and storylines. In short, I don't just match my client's original vision—I help them hone their very best ideas and bring their world to life.
So if you've got a great concept for a game, but no narrative framework to go with it? Or you've created a bunch of fun character designs, but you're lacking the witty one-liners to turn them into fan favorites? Or heck, maybe your beta testers are just having a devil of a time understanding your skill tooltips. Whatever your game-related writing needs, there's a good chance I'm up to the challenge. So drop me a line, and let's see what we can make together!
